WHEN A WHITE VOTER GOES TO THE POLLS, HE OR SHE MUST DECIDE... “I AM GOING TO VOTE FOR A BLACK CANDIDATE.” White voters do not make up their minds at the last minute to vote for a Black person as Mayor or Governor or President or any other political position of note...it is a conscious thing. Obviously that Black candidate(s) is qualified OR that Black candidate(s) would not be the standard bearer for his or her Party. And by qualifications, I mean that Black Candidate is usually TWICE as good as his or her White Opponent and has more than the requisite experience to serve and serve well and to represent a total constituency even better. One of the things about living on this earthly plane as long as I have is, I do not trust White Voters to vote for a Black Candidate NO MATTER how qualified they are. There is reason why Blacks have never won a statewide race in the State of Florida...and correspondingly why Whites have not voted for and elected a Black as a statewide Constitutional Officer. It is called the subtleties of White Voter Racism. I do not need to hear White political pundits tomorrow, “waxing and waning” about the election tonight. I do not need to hear White political pundits opinions about the trump factor. I do not need to hear White political pundits talk about the personal arena of politics. I do not need to hear White political pundits give their discombobulated political Bullsh*t about “What happened.” I have heard all of that before. I would like to hear White political pundits admit..."It was White American Racism which kept White Voters from voting for Andrew Gillum for Governor of the State of Florida." In fact, whether White America will admit it or not, their White Racism and their White Privilege are blinding factors, no matter where, and especially, as we have seen, in the political arena. Yet White candidates sashay their happy political Asses into the Black community at election time wanting Black folks to vote for THEM "because they feel THEY are the best person for the job". It is never a two-way street. White Voters in Florida Simply Refused To Vote For an Eminently Qualified Black Candidate running for Governor. They preferred voting for an unqualified Racist for governor just like they preferred voting for an unqualified Racist for president. It is called the American Institution of Racism. And I really do not give a Tinker’s Damn if you agree with me or not. The Struggle Continues!

I AM BLACK. I AM EDUCATED. I ASK QUESTIONS. LOTS OF THEM. I RESPECT PEOPLE WHO RESPECT ME, AND ONLY THEM. At all costs, I will not aid anyone in the promotion of White supremacy and the subjugation of people like me. I will not tolerate micro aggression. This means that more likely than not, I will be killed in the commission of my most basic human right – Breathing While Black. All my life I’ve witnessed the debate – the victims of real racism trying to convince the privileged that we are not yet post-racial. Yet I WILL Vote ...no matter how much to try and keep me from voting. You kidnapped us from Africa...you worked us for free in a free labor economy...you then said later that, "You are Free". And when I ask you "Free From What? and Free With What? you laugh. When I ask about reparations for the hundreds of years you stole money from me and my family and my ancestors you laugh. Supposedly we are a nation of those who respect Freedoms, yet the first freedom you always want to take from Blacks is the freedom to vote. And you take pride in denying Blacks the right to vote. Plain old Voter Suppression. When Black people correctly charge, accuse and indict you for centuries of brutality, you compare us to infants throwing a tantrum. When we use ---Racism, White Privilege, White Supremacy---terms that adequately reflect the imbalance of power between Whites and Black people as well as the terrorism that typifies how Whites relate to Black people, you say we are whiners. When we complain about the Criminal "Injustice" System, you accuse us of playing the race card. We are, because the "system" smacks of blatant racism. You also promote the absurd theory that “sensitivity training” can rehabilitate racists. Not when Racism is American Born and Bred. Then you love to use the term Racial Reconciliation. Reconciliation is the restoration of friendly relations. During what era have Whites and Blacks enjoyed friendly, non-exploitative relations? Also understand that even while we use the term White Privilege it is a misnomer. White Privilege conveniently focuses attention on the benefits Whites derive from racism, not the mandatory White conduct that sustains a racist empire. Let's call it White pathology along with White deeds and White actions – not privileges – which void Black life and extinguish our very existence. Once again America you cannot pretend it is only a problem with the “Black Savages” on the Street as YOUR president says...and you can call all the Black and White Intellectuals you want to analyze the problem...and we can have all the ministers of all faiths to have Interfaith prayer sessions everyday ...but until and unless America decides it wants to do something about the way it treats its Black citizens, and have since we were kidnapped and brought to these shores during the American Holocaust called Slavery, toil and strife will continue. Just another time and another place. So WE WILL Vote, and We WILL every chance we get, no matter how much you try and STOP US! America will have NO REST until respect for Human Dignity and Respect ...and the sanctity of a Black Life is at hand. Tell that to the Racist Degenerate YOU elected. The Struggle Continues! AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM WORLD WAR II, VETERAN AND LATER CIVIL RIGHTS MARTYR MEDGAR EVERS DECIDED TO VOTE IN A MISSISSIPPI ELECTION. But when he and some other Black ex-servicemen attempted to vote, a white mob stopped them. "All we wanted to be was ordinary citizens," Evers later related. "We fought during the war for America, Mississippi included. Now, after the Germans and Japanese hadn't killed us, it looked as though the white Mississippians would. . . ." How prophetic were Medgar’s words. “I’m here today because of the men and because of the women who were lynched, who were humiliated, who were discriminated against, who were suppressed, who were repressed and oppressed for the right, for the equality at the polls, and I want you to know that their blood seeped into my DNA and I refuse to let their sacrifices be in vain.” And with those earnest and heartfelt words, Oprah Winfrey began campaigning for Stacey Abrams as Governor of Georgia. The most basic right of a citizen in a democracy is the right to vote. Without this right, people can be easily ignored and even abused by their government. After the Civil War, Congress acted to prevent Southerners from re-establishing White supremacy. In 1867, Congress imposed federal military rule over most of the South. Under U.S. Army occupation, the former Confederate states wrote new constitutions and were readmitted to the Union, but only after ratifying the 14th Amendment. This Reconstruction amendment prohibited states from denying "the equal protection of the laws" to U.S. citizens, which included the former slaves. Yet it happens today as we can read and see. Throughout American History, the story is never told about how Blacks were beaten and maimed and killed for trying to vote. It was important then, it is even more important now. White America NEVER wanted Blacks to vote and correspondingly---as we can plainly see---did everything to keep Blacks from voting. As Oprah said, “For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn’t have the right to vote, and we ALL had, and you are choosing not to vote… you are dishonoring your family.” The Struggle Continues! |
